Children's Privacy Policy
This web site has three main sections: for teachers
(“EDUCATORS”), for parents (“FAMILIES”), and for children (“KIDS”). The
KIDS section of the site does not collect any personally identifying
information from its visitors, nor is there a link to the “Contact Us”
page from the KIDS section of our site. Additionally, the “Contact Us”
page reminds children under 13 that they are not to contact us without
permission of their teacher or parent.
Although most nonprofit organizations, such as the
Sterling Hill Mining Museum, are not subject to the Children’s Online
Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Federal Trade Commission’s
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, we take children’s privacy
seriously and have read the Rule thoroughly. Because we do not collect
personally identifying information from children under 13, we are not
subject to the Rule.
To learn more about COPPA and the Rule, visit the
FTC’s site called
“Kidz Privacy.“
